3rd July 1952 – Letter from Pietro Quaroni to Alcide De Gasperi
body
Subject/contents: Private and confidential letter dated 3rd July 1952 from the Italian ambassador Pietro Quaroni to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Alcide De Gasperi, in which he expresses a few general remarks regarding the course of European matters and declares himself against De Gasperi’s imminent attending of the meeting of the Council of Ministers in Paris. It is deemed more opportune that De Gasperi should declare his position as a “convinced European” publicly the day of the opening session of the ECSC assembly, in that it is an almost-European constituent.
